How we make money — in plain English
KitchenDesk is reader-supported. When you buy through our links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works, what it doesn’t buy, and why it doesn’t change our reviews.
The short version
KitchenDesk participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate program. When you click an Amazon link on our site and buy something — the product we link to, or any other product within the next 24 hours — Amazon pays us a small percentage of the sale. You pay the same price either way. Amazon pays us out of their margin, not yours.
How we choose what to recommend
We recommend products we have personally tested. When first-hand testing isn’t possible (rare cases, e.g., regional availability), we evaluate against published reviews from independent expert sources — Cook’s Illustrated, Serious Eats, America’s Test Kitchen — and verified user reviews, and we mark the review as such.
Our test protocol — the same one we apply to every product — is published in full on the Methodology page.
What we will not do
- We do not accept payment for positive reviews. Ever. Not for the article. Not for placement in a roundup. Not for a higher rank in a list.
- We do not allow brands to dictate our verdicts. Brands do not see reviews before publication, and they cannot request edits after.
- We do not accept gifted gear in exchange for coverage. If we accept a sample for testing, we say so on the review and we’re still free to publish a negative verdict.
- We do not cloak affiliate links. Every affiliate link on the site is clearly tagged
rel="nofollow sponsored"and points to a publicly visible Amazon URL. - We do not use static prices. We link to live Amazon listings so the price you see is the price you’ll pay — not a number that’s been stale for six months.
Affiliate programs we participate in
- Amazon Associates — US, Canada, UK, Australia, and Germany via Amazon OneLink. This is currently the only affiliate program we participate in.
If we add other affiliate relationships in the future — direct merchant programs, network partnerships — they will be listed here. Always.
Where the disclosure appears
You will see a short inline disclosure near every affiliate link on the site — not just on this page. That disclosure links back here, so anyone clicking through can see exactly what the relationship is before they buy.
