KitchenDesk publishes product reviews, buying guides, and how-to content for home cooks. This page explains how we make editorial decisions.
1. Independence
We are funded through Amazon affiliate commissions. We are not sponsored by brands. We do not accept paid placements, paid reviews, or “exchange” arrangements that would compromise our independence. We do accept review samples on the condition that this does not influence our verdict and is disclosed within the review.
2. Selection
We choose what to review based on:
- Reader demand (search interest, comments, emails)
- Genuine quality signals (engineering, materials, brand track record)
- Gaps in existing coverage
We do not “review for ranking” — i.e., we won’t manufacture a comparison just to capture a keyword if we don’t have something useful to say.
3. Testing standards
See our Methodology page. Briefly: every product reviewed is used in a real kitchen for at least one week before publication, across at least two cooking surfaces (gas + induction or electric), and rated on five axes.
4. Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and add a Correction: note at the top of the article with the date. Significant corrections are also disclosed in our monthly newsletter.
5. Updates
Best-of lists are reviewed every 6 months. Single product reviews are revisited annually or when the manufacturer ships a major update.
6. Conflicts of interest
Maya Chen (founder) has no financial relationship with any brand mentioned on the Site. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed in the relevant article and on this page.
7. Reader feedback
